Родился в Москве в 1944 г. В 1967 г. окончил химический факультет МГУ им. М.В. Ломоносова. С 1967 г. работает в НИИ физико-хмической биологии имени А.Н. Белозерского. В 1970 г. защитил диссертацию на звание кандидата биологических наук, а в 1983 г. – на звание доктора биологических наук. В 1994 г. получил звание профессора по специальности «молекулярная биология». Опубликовал около 110 работ в реферируемых научных журналах.
